It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our brother in Christ, Rev. George Guinan St. John. He died here at home at Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 2, with his nephew at his side and under the care of Hospice. His family, friends, and brother priests had the great privilege of taking care of him the last couple of months. Personally, I am thankful to everyone who visited him, prayed for him, and assisted him in any way these last couple of weeks. Fr. George remained thankful, appreciative, and patient until the end, with unwavering faith in the goodness of God and the victory over death by Jesus at Easter. We all have great trust that though he fell asleep here, he “woke up in heaven”.Fr. George’s wake will be Sunday, Dec. 13 from 3:00-6:00 at Blessed Sacrament Church, beginning with the Vigil Prayers and the Reception of the Body. He will remain in the church over night.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 Monday morning, Dec. 14.
He will be buried at the family plot at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Troy.
