Blessed Sacrament has been proud to host the annual Parade Day Mass for many years!
The St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the City of Albany always take place on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day (17 March). https://www.albany.com/things-to-do/st-patricks-day-parade/
Mass begins at Blessed Sacrament at 9:00,
with the Grand Marshall of the parade
the Irish societies of the Capitol Region,
pipers and drummers and harpists, along with our own parish musicians.
This year, 2025, Bishop Ed Scharfenberger, Bishop of Albany, will preside and be our homilist.
Join us after Mass for a reception in the school gymnasium for more music, dancers, and soda bread and drinks.
Volunteers helping to decorate, prepare the hall, direct guests, and keep order, are always appreciated! Contact the parish office.
This year we are proud to be able to ring the Meneely bell named “St. Columba” at the former St. Patrick’s Church on Central Ave. (now our Shrine of our Lady of the Americas) during the parade.
The inscription:
My Name is St. Columba
praising God in St. Patrick’s Church Albany N.Y.
Remember the kindness of all who placed me
here, particularly Nancy Moore.
