Pastor’s Notes

UPCOMING EVENTS:

NEWS

FACEBOOK PAGE: There is a BSS Alumni Facebook page. All are welcome, if you were a student, parent or friend. It’s a place to reconnect with old friends, find news on reunions and promote our wonderful school – http://www.facebook.com/#!BSSAlbanyAlumni/ You can conveniently see the whole calendar of parish events, including Mass times, social events, even funeral notices.

THRIFT STORE:  The Thrift Shop will be open Saturdays from 9 am – 1 pm.  Donations will be accepted Tuesdays and Fridays 9 am – 12 pm from the Central Avenue entrance only.  During this time we are not able to accept items from assisted care, nursing or patient facilities. We will not be accepting Christmas items until the Fall.

FOOD PANTRY: Our Food Pantry served 258 families in May (269 children; 8 under the age of one; 481 adults; 42 over age 65). Our cost for food was over $3,700. This only happens through your generosity in contributions to the poor boxes and donation of grocery items. Please consider donations of toothpaste, shampoos, disposable razors or baby cereal. Thank you so much for your support.

KNIT, CROCHET OR QUILT?: Our ministry is implemented. Newly Baptized children have received the blankets you have supplied. We congratulate our newly baptized and thank you very much for your dedication and prayers to this ministry. Please continue to “supply” your blankets in order for us to continue this ministry. A reminder – blankets should be at least 30 inches by 30 inches and white. Please contact the parish office (518-482-3375) if you have a donation or questions. Thanks again.

PRAYER BLANKET MINISTRY: for our brothers and sisters living in our local nursing homes to be delivered around Christmas. The warm embrace they give is symbolic of the prayers we offer for them, especially those prayers we pray while making them. They can be any color and any style (knitted, crocheted, quilted, etc.). A good size is 18” x 72”. Please contact the parish office for more information.

COLONIE CENTER SCHOOL BUCKS: Any purchases can be registered in the name of our school. Receipts must be registered at the Service Desk within 60 days of the purchase. Please help our school win cash prizes by registering your receipts in our school name. You helped us win in the past & we appreciate your support. Invite others to help us. If you would like to have one of our volunteers register your receipts, please put them in the collection or leave them at the rectory in an envelope with your name & address on it. You can pick them up at the rectory, or we can mail them if you have a stamp on the return envelope. You can register receipts from all stores & restaurants in the Center, as well as the Post Office. We are grateful for your support.
